ABOUT PRELIMINARY PAGEANTS

Miss Gay America preliminary pageants are held in two styles, a state pageant, and a regional pageant.  State pageants highlight contestants meeting a residency requirement and having pre-qualified at a city preliminary to compete for a state title they will oversee for the duration of the reign (one year).  A regional pageant is open to any interested contestant wishing to advance to the national Miss Gay America contest.

Promoters are individuals, or teams of community figures that invest in these contestants by hosting the reigning Miss Gay America and contestants for a preliminary pageant, and open their community to the Miss Gay America experience, where boys are boys, and female impersonation is an art.
